3 in 1, ARGH!

Cole and I ended up skipping yesterday because the day went flying by (he graduated 8th grade and went to a party and I crashed out for a few hours) and it would have been too late...I would not have gotten to sleep until 5 am. So, today we did not only the workout of the day which was Kenpo X, but yesterday's as well, which was Legs/Back and Ab Ripper. Total, it took about 4 hours, 4.5 with the breaks included. I was just FLINGING sweat by the Kenpo part, I had to stop a few times as I felt like I was going to pass out and started wheezing. My larynx literally felt like it was closing, scary! I coached Cole in proper karate form as I have taken it before and he never has, and had a great time visualizing some people that I find annoying while punching the air. Quite satisfying! I finished, took cool shower as I was drenched, and did some errands, now am just collapsed. I'm not even hungry, I think I over did a little... :p It seemed to be all leg work today, I will be surprised if I can walk tomorrow. Luckily it's the stretch/rest day.

Good news: I cheated and measured my waist today. I've dropped an inch of fat in one week! I can't wait until tomorrow to take pics and measure again. I'll also put up Cole's information, pics and his exercise chart, as I have been remiss in that this week.

I've found that lean turkey breast is delicious and works well for me after a workout, as well as fat free yogurt and fruit. I'm pretty much downing a gallon of water a day, flavored with Crystal Light. My energy and attitude have been so much better ever since starting the diet and regimen, it's amazing what getting off your butt and eating right can do for you. I've even avoided catching AJ's horrid cold!

Gonna rest now, I feel pretty damn proud of myself.

Hard to believe that week 1 is almost done!

Yoga Day!

Went to Target after a yummy sushi lunch with AJ and got a yoga mat, more hand weights (3lb to build lean NOT huge muscles!), a stainless steel water bottle and some chocolate flavored whey recovery drink as the other one tasted like VOMIT. After I got home, it was Yoga X time! Spread out my new mat in the living room, put in the DVD and went to work. I swear, I sweated more during that hour and a half than I did during the Cardio X! It was, however, amazing. It's heavily geared toward Ashtanga yoga, which is pose after pose, repeatedly flowing. I felt very in the moment doing yoga, a bomb could have gone off and I wouldn't have known it. Some of those poses were just insane towards the end, but I was successful at breathing through the pain...I actually felt the "switch" when I was in the right place...the pain backed off and it was no longer at the forefront of my consciousness. I think the yoga abs worked me harder than the Ab Ripper. I was so surprised to find out that that much time had passed when I finished, I thought it was only an hour or so. What really surprised me was the emotions that yoga dredged up from inside...there were times when I felt like laughing, and times when I felt like crying, just pure emotion. I've never in my life had exercise do that to me before.

By the end of the DVD, I had become so flexible that I was able to lean forward, grab my feet across the bottoms with straight legs, and put my chest down on my thighs and my face on my knees. I haven't done that in 20 years or so, even with all of my performing experience. That, out of everything, totally sold me and made me a yoga lover. Oh, and the chocolate recovery drink was actually pretty tasty. I ate lean turkey and fruit for dinner afterwards.

Tomorrow is Legs/Back and another Ab Ripper. I'll probably wake up sore as hell, but if it doesn't hurt, it doesn't work! I'm hoping that measurements and pics tell a good story by Friday, I have this funny feeling there will be a difference. :)

Just press play.

Days 2 and 3, Cardio X, Ab Ripper and Shoulders/Arms/Back. AAAAAAAAA!

Did my Cardio X last night, AFTER an entire day running around Disney with my kids. The last thing I wanted to do when I got home was cardio! BUT: I moved the couch back, grabbed Cole and we hit it. By the time I finished with the Vinyasa, I no longer had the major soreness in my legs/hips that I had had at the beginning of the workout. I really enjoyed the whole program, I love Karate, I used to take it and it was nice already knowing the Kenpo moves that we did. That was a good one!

This morning I felt like an old person, it was hard to get out of bed and straighten up, I was so sore. I rested awhile this morning, and then decided it was time to work out and do arms/shoulders/back and the Ab Ripper X. I didn't want to wait for Cole because I'm finding that working out in the evening keeps me awake, so I figured I'd do it in the afternoon and coach him on his form while he did it after school.

Today's workout was KICK ASS. Here's what I did on the Arms/Back/Shoulders:

Did all the first unit of pushups
20 Chair Dips
15 military pushups with back arch
10 pike press
10 tri rise on each side, green thera band (moderate pull)
8 each side floor flys
13 scarecrows, green band
7 overhead tricep extension with 10lb weights
3 sets of 2 twitch speed push ups, 4 reps each (those HURT)
12 Y flys, green band
10 lying tricep extension, green band
12 side to side push ups
10 pour flys, green band (subsitituted iso hold instead of wrist turn)
12 side leaning tricep extensions, green band
10 1 arm pushup, each side
20 x 2 weighted arm circle, green band, (OMG)
12 weighted throw, green band
15 clap pushups
6 forward 3 in one triceps, green band
10 forward tricep extensions, green band
5 each side 1 arm push ups
7 fly-row-press with green band
25 cross punch with green band.

That's a total of *377* exercises! No wonder I can hardly type this right now.

Next came the Ab Ripper X. It is no joke. I did all of the exercises, for a total of 349 of them. Some I had a lot of trouble doing and had to pause the DVD to do them slower.

By the time I was done, I was soaked with sweat and shaking and tired, but I felt GREAT that I managed to do ALL of these. I think I'm going to be sore again tomorrow...

Day 1, Wooooooo!

I did the Core Synergistics yesterday, and let me tell you, it's QUITE the workout! I don't think I've ever done so many kinds of pushups at one time in my life, lol. It was very fun, and my oldest son, Cole, is doing the program with me, so I have a workout buddy. He's almost 15 and scrawny like a lot of boys his age, and he wants to bulk up. I'll put his pics and progress up along with my own. After I finished the workout, including the 10 min of "extra credit", I felt wobbly but euphoric, that great feeling you get when you know you've worked your body to the max. I was a bit worried that I'd be sore this morning, but in all honesty, I feel pretty good. Sore, but not incapacitatingly so. Just the right amount that shows that the workout did something.

Tonight is Day 2, and I'll be doing the Cardio X. I hope that THAT doesn't make me pass out! I need the cardio in my life as I haven't done parades in awhile!

Now I have to find a protein drink that doesn't taste like ass. What Cole and I drank for a recovery drink yesterday, it was by Twinlabs, tasted like nasty sour milk mixed with fruit. I drank it, but Cole nearly barfed, it was that nasty. So I gave him cottage cheese and some fruit and an electrolyte drink instead as that has most of the same stuff. I saw a chocolate flavored whey powder at the store last night, that might work. I'll take a trip to GNC and see what they have that isn't a million dollars per tub. Oh, and more creatine drink as what I had had expired.

On to Day 2!

Day 0, Fit Test and Measurements

So, after not liking the way I was looking, especially all the fat rolls around my stomach that have recently developed after a bout with steroids for my neck problems, I have decided to give P90x a go. A good friend had EXCELLENT results using this program, and another friend also had great results and additionally has become a Beachbody coach. Today was Day 0, with measurements, Fit Test, and pictures.

My results:

Bust 34

Underbust 31.5

High Waist 30

Naval waist 28

Hip 34

Forearm 8.5

Arm (bicep) 9.5

Thigh 19.25

Total inches 194.75

Weight 106

Height 4' 10.5"

body fat% 26.13

resting hr 92

pullups 3

vertical jump 14"

pushups 28

reach beyond toes 5+

wall sit 1min 25 sec

arm curls (10 lb weights) 30

in and outs 35

jumping jacks, 2 min with 30 second sprint: resting hr 88 after 1 min 116 after 2 min 100 after 3 min 96 after 4 min 92

Not terrible stats, by any means as I'm a 41 year old woman with 3 kids, but my BMI frankly shocked me. I've never been above 23 before, except after having my 3rd kid! So, I've got a bit of work to do.

Below are the pictures from Day 0. I'll be updating this blog weekly with pictures also weekly to chart my progress.
