Yoga Day!

Went to Target after a yummy sushi lunch with AJ and got a yoga mat, more hand weights (3lb to build lean NOT huge muscles!), a stainless steel water bottle and some chocolate flavored whey recovery drink as the other one tasted like VOMIT. After I got home, it was Yoga X time! Spread out my new mat in the living room, put in the DVD and went to work. I swear, I sweated more during that hour and a half than I did during the Cardio X! It was, however, amazing. It's heavily geared toward Ashtanga yoga, which is pose after pose, repeatedly flowing. I felt very in the moment doing yoga, a bomb could have gone off and I wouldn't have known it. Some of those poses were just insane towards the end, but I was successful at breathing through the pain...I actually felt the "switch" when I was in the right place...the pain backed off and it was no longer at the forefront of my consciousness. I think the yoga abs worked me harder than the Ab Ripper. I was so surprised to find out that that much time had passed when I finished, I thought it was only an hour or so. What really surprised me was the emotions that yoga dredged up from inside...there were times when I felt like laughing, and times when I felt like crying, just pure emotion. I've never in my life had exercise do that to me before.

By the end of the DVD, I had become so flexible that I was able to lean forward, grab my feet across the bottoms with straight legs, and put my chest down on my thighs and my face on my knees. I haven't done that in 20 years or so, even with all of my performing experience. That, out of everything, totally sold me and made me a yoga lover. Oh, and the chocolate recovery drink was actually pretty tasty. I ate lean turkey and fruit for dinner afterwards.

Tomorrow is Legs/Back and another Ab Ripper. I'll probably wake up sore as hell, but if it doesn't hurt, it doesn't work! I'm hoping that measurements and pics tell a good story by Friday, I have this funny feeling there will be a difference. :)

Just press play.
